The 'Brandywine' crabapple is vigorous, with a symmetrical habit. The large dark green leaves have a dark red tint, turning purple in the fall. The fruit is large 1" and yellow-green. The flowers are fragrant double deep rose-pink and are very fragrant. Moderate scab and fire-blight, poor resistance to rust and mildew, high resistance to the Japanese beetle. It is a hybrid cross between M. ‘Lemoinei’ and M. ‘Klehm’s’. Silvery twigs provide some winter interest.
