The appearance is deep to bright red and is very crisp with a white or buff-colored interior. The flavor of the 'Red Delicious' is mildly sweet. It has an elongated shape with five point knobs on the end and is medium to large in size. Best uses for this apple are fresh eating and salads. Harvested in mid-September and has a long shelf life. Is a good pollinizer for other apples; needs 'Granny Smith', 'Golden Delicious', 'Fuj'i or 'Gala' for pollinizers
