Autumn Blaze' maple also known as 'Jeffersred' was introduced in 1982, as a cross of red and silver maple. Its oval-rounded form grows rapidly. It has ascending branches bearing oppositely arranged simple leaves. The leaves emerge with a reddish tint, maturing to green in the summer. In the fall the leaves take on a brilliant shade of orange-red. The tree maintains a good central leader form and has wider crotch angles than silver maple making it better adapted to areas with either ice or snow. 'Autumn Blaze' is very adaptable to a wide range of soil and climate conditions. It tolerate clay soil, and will withstand wet soil conditions and drought.
